AKWESASNE, ON, October 1st, 2026 – The Seaway International Bridge Corporation,
Ltd. (SIBC) wishes to advise the travelling public that the Seaway International Bridge
will be temporarily closed to regular vehicular traffic from 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
October 13, 2026, until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The overnight closure is required to safely complete work associated with the annual
inspection of the South Channel Bridge.
Emergency access will be maintained throughout the closure for ambulance, fire and
law enforcement vehicles.
No other vehicles will be permitted to cross during the six-hour closure. Travellers and
commercial operators are encouraged to plan accordingly and adjust their travel
schedules to avoid the closure period.
The bridge is expected to reopen to regular vehicular traffic at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday,
October 14, subject to completion of the scheduled inspection activities.

completed.
