Cornwall, ON — The Seaway International Bridge Corporation Ltd. (SIBC) will begin paving operations on the South Channel Bridge (SCB) starting Tuesday, September 2 at 6:30 a.m., concluding Thursday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m.

To ensure the structural safety of the bridge during paving, vehicle restrictions will apply during working hours only:

  • Between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily, vehicles heavier than 5,000 kg GVW will not be permitted in the lane adjacent to paving.
  • All vehicle traffic, including commercial and heavy vehicles, will be permitted after 6:00 p.m. each evening.

Emergency vehicles over 5,000 kg GVW may cross with specific spacing protocols in place.

“We’re taking every step to inform the public, commercial partners, and emergency services so that everyone can plan accordingly,” said Marc Chénier, Bridge Director. “Our goal is to complete this work safely, efficiently, and with as little disruption as possible.”

Information will be shared via bridge signage, SIBC’s website, toll booth flyers, and social media platforms.
