Akwesasne, Ontario, March 28th, 2024 — The upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. This rare celestial event is anticipated to captivate observers across a vast swath of North America, offering a breathtaking spectacle as the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun.
Scheduled to commence in the morning hours and traverse a path stretching from the western to the eastern United States, this total solar eclipse promises to be a visual marvel. The path of totality will sweep across regions including New York, Vermont, Kingston, and Cornwall, providing ample opportunities for enthusiasts and researchers to witness this awe-inspiring phenomenon.
In anticipation of the peak eclipse, traffic on the entrances north and south of the South Channel Bridge of the Three Nations Bridge Crossing will be suspended for a period of approximately 5 minutes starting at 15:23 PM to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all observers. Emergency medical services (EMS), law enforcement, and fire departments will be permitted to circulate to ensure public safety. Traffic between Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) and the City of Cornwall will not be impacted.
