FBCL attends MCA Public Information Meeting on Cornwall Island

OTTAWA, March 8, 2018 – The Federal Bridge Corporation (FBCL) is participating in a Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) public information session on Cornwall Island regarding its corridor improvement project which is scheduled for construction this summer.

The corridor improvement project has been a coordinated effort between FBCL, the Seaway International Bridge Corporation (SIBC) and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and is funded by the federal government.

The project will update the existing corridor road system by improving and managing the traffic flow and to allow better access for businesses and residents on Cornwall Island. Along with the roadway development, the project will incorporate new traffic lights at the intersection of Akwesasne International Road and Island Road, sidewalks, lighting and landscaping improvements.

The project is another step in FBCL efforts to improve the local road system following the investment of $74.8M for the new low-level North Channel Bridge project including the rehabilitation of the southern section of Brookdale Avenue, completed in partnership with the City of Cornwall.

Works on the Cornwall Island Corridor are expected to begin in May and end in November 2018.
